In exchange for completing an online home energy audit TVA is offering to mail consumers free energy-efficiency kits. I thought it was good motivation to do something I keep putting off. It took me about 25 minutes to do ours and pretty much covered all of our main energy consumption habits. When you're done you have a handy energy analysis of your home and you can continue to add the more recent information every month from your NES bill to keep track of your progress. To read more about it and do the audit go to www.energyright.com.

Green Building Primer
Posted by
Amber
Inhabitat.com has written this great introduction to green building. It's a series of articles, each one a primer on a particular concept such as "Energy & Atmosphere" and "Water Efficiency" etc. I read a section every so often and it gives me a good starting point for further reading. Have a look-see.
